Privacy notice
This privacy notice explains how Word Nest, a personal blog written by Daniel at wordnest.pro, handles information when you visit. I keep the policy plain because obscurity helps no one, and because a personal site should still respect the people who read it.
Who operates this site. Word Nest is operated by me, Daniel, an individual writing from Clementi, Singapore. There is no company behind the blog, no Pte Ltd, no registration number displayed here, and no team page pretending otherwise. Contact: [email protected], +65 6774 5183, Blk 448 Clementi Avenue 3, #07-22, Singapore 120448.
What this site is. A personal blog publishing first-person notes about ordinary life in Clementi and one memory piece dated 12 November 2025. It is not a shop, not a service, not a newsroom, and not a platform for selling your attention. Nothing here is professional advice of any kind.
Information I collect. By default, very little. The site does not use analytics scripts, advertising trackers, social login, newsletters, or comment forms. I do not ask you to create an account. Server logs maintained by my hosting provider may record standard technical data — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — for security and troubleshooting. I do not use those logs to profile visitors.
Legal bases (plain language). I am not a lawyer, but I explain my reasoning in ordinary terms. Strictly necessary storage of your cookie choice exists because without it the consent banner could not function honestly. Optional map loading happens only after you affirmatively accept embedded content — your choice is the basis there. If you email me, I process your message so I can reply — that is basic correspondence, not marketing.
Cookies and local storage. Word Nest uses one first-party cookie named wn_consent to remember your choice about embedded maps and optional preference toggles. Until you interact with the banner, no consent cookie is written. Details are in the cookie notice at /cookies.php. The site may also read that stored consent via localStorage as described there — solely to keep your choice consistent across pages.
Embedded content. Pages include an optional Google Maps iframe showing the Clementi / West Coast Park area. The map loads only if you accept embedded content in the cookie settings. If you reject it, a placeholder appears instead. Google may process data if you choose to load the map; their policies apply at that point. I do not control Google's processing.
Fonts. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts via a standard link element in the document head. Your browser requests those files from Google servers when you visit. I do not receive identifying information from that request directly, but it is a third-party connection you should know about. If you prefer, browser extensions that block remote fonts will still leave the site readable in system fallbacks.
Email and phone contact. If you email or call me, I receive whatever you choose to send — your address, your words, perhaps your phone number. I use that information only to respond and then keep messages in an ordinary mailbox archive unless you ask me to delete them. I do not sell contact details or add you to marketing lists because there are no marketing lists.
Corrections and takedown requests. If you believe something on the blog misdescribes you or a place you care about, write with specifics. I will read carefully and amend or add a correction note when warranted. This is a personal blog, not an archive of record, but accuracy matters to me.
Children. This site is written for general readers and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under thirteen. If you believe a child has contacted me in error, write and I will delete the message.
International visitors. The site is hosted and written from Singapore. If you read from elsewhere, your connection may cross borders and your browser may still request Google assets as described above. I do not target EU or UK residents specifically, but I still try to keep practices proportionate and honest for anyone who arrives.
Links. Articles may link to external sites for reference. Those sites have their own policies. I am responsible for my words here, not for what others do elsewhere.
Security. No transmission over the internet is perfectly secure. I choose hosting with reasonable safeguards, but I cannot guarantee absolute security. Do not send sensitive personal data by email if you can avoid it.
Retention. Consent records persist according to the cookie notice. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed for sense and then deleted in ordinary housekeeping unless legally required otherwise — an unlikely event for a personal blog.
Your choices. You can reject non-essential cookies via the banner or footer link "Cookie settings." You can load the site with JavaScript disabled and still read every note. You can use email to ask what I hold about you or to request deletion of messages you sent.
Automated decisions. None. No profiling, no scoring, no recommendation engine decides what you see beyond the static order I arranged on the collection page.
Sharing with others. I do not sell, rent, or trade visitor information. I have no advertising partners. Hosting staff may see server logs in the course of maintaining machines; that is infrastructure, not commerce.
Data breach. If a provider notifies me of a breach affecting this site in a way that matters to readers, I will post a plain statement here and describe sensible steps. Touch wood — a personal static blog should be a small target.
Changes. If I update this notice, I will change the date below and keep the substance honest. Continued reading after a change means you accept the revised notice for future visits.
Disclaimer reminder. Everything published here is personal writing — opinions, memories, impressions. It is not medical, legal, financial, fitness or news-reporting advice. Where writing touches a serious nearby event, I describe only what I experienced from a distance without speculation.
PDPA note for Singapore readers. I aim to handle personal data in line with the Personal Data Protection Act as it applies to an individual keeping a small blog — collecting little, using it fairly, securing it sensibly, and correcting when asked. If you have a PDPA-related question, email [email protected] with "PDPA" in the subject so I can prioritise it.
Access requests. Email me if you want to know whether I hold an email you sent or if you want it deleted. I will respond within a reasonable window measured in days, not months, because there is no bureaucracy here — only a inbox I check myself.
Photos on this site. Images are generated placeholders for this build and depict generic scenes — kopi counters, park hedges, lamps — not identifiable strangers. If that ever changes, this notice will too.
Questions. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected] and I will clarify in plain language rather than sending you in circles.
No mailing list. Reading Word Nest does not subscribe you to anything. I do not harvest addresses from server logs to send updates. If I ever write a batch note to readers — unlikely — it would require a separate explicit sign-up that does not exist today.
